Harlem: 26 cops arrest & beat one unarmed Black youth, slam him to ground, then stop legal filming by witnesses.

This was May 13 at 3:30pm in the 135th St station of the B/C. Note the one arresting officer repeatedly telling the other to “relax.” The young man being arrested puts his leg up just so they don’t slam his face into the wall. When I turned my camera to catch the officers streaming into the station, two of them came behind me and one officer (Mancebo?) pushed me out of the station and would not let me turn around. Afterwards, I counted twelve police cars around the station.

This is a regular occurrence in NYC.
But let’s not talk about that, let’s talk about the IRS and who they’re scrutinizing.
It’s called agenda setting, people.

A older white professor forced dap with me today. Not cool.

I was on my way out of the coffee shop where I had my lunch when he spotted me. If I had seen him first, I would’ve waited him out but I was already headed towards the door he came through. Couldn’t front like i didn’t see him. No choice but to directly engage.

I (begrudgingly) went in for the collegial handshake. And that’s when it went down. Professor Whitey held on and took me on an unsolicited roller coaster ride of intercultural relations. He exercised every muscle in his hand demonstrating a limited knowledge of greeting rituals between Black folks. I pulled my hand back as soon as my thumb got free. He was looking for some skin, a fist bump or a snap but he got nothing. I just watched his hand flail for some sort of resolution.

Professor Whitey, do you do that with other students? You know what, that doesn’t even matter. Besides, ain’t enough of us around to justify asking if you do it with just us. If you had any awareness of the context daps are exchanged (mutual respect), you’d know you were out of your lane. Part of it’s a Black thing but you missed the more important part: I gotta like you. And to be frank, I really don’t rock with you so chill with all that extra mess. I’m not here to make you look or feel cool. The next time you pull that number, my hand’s gonna catch a case of rigor mortis and I’m gonna ask you what you think you’re doing. Try not to look as stupid as you did today when you answer.

Matter of fact, I’m gonna put you on the head nod list. You out here trying to steal folks’ cool and shit.

And that’s that. I don’t use any of those watercolor tubes anymore, as I’ve replaced them each with higher quality tubes, so I thought: why not give them away? And I like the fountain pen I’ve been using so much that I think I’d like someone else to try it, too. I’ve also replaced the three brushes I’ve included here, so I don’t need those, either. And a drawing for good measure.

Here are the rules! Please follow these:
